Why Your Ad Was Rejected by Meta

Meta reviews every ad automatically, usually within 24 hours. Rejections come from Meta, not from Agency AI. Read the exact policy reason in Account Quality inside Meta Ads Manager, fix the specific issue, and resubmit. Most rejections are fixable in one edit.

First: find the real reason

The rejection notice names a policy category but rarely names the exact trigger.

  1. Open Meta Ads Manager
  2. Go to Account Quality
  3. Click the rejected ad, then See details on the rejection notice
  4. Read the full policy description

Screenshot it before you change anything. Specific policy references usually mean an automated rejection with a clear fix. Vague references usually mean a human decision and may need an appeal.

The most common causes

Personal attributes. The single most common rejection. Meta prohibits copy that implies you know something about the reader — their health, finances, politics, relationship status, or identity. Anything shaped like "Are you [X]?" or "People like you..." triggers it.

Fix: rewrite from second person to benefit-first. Not "Are you tired of back pain?" but "Everyday support for back pain."

Misleading or exaggerated claims. Promising specific outcomes in specific timeframes. "Lose 10 lbs in 2 weeks." "Clears acne in 7 days." Meta's classifier catches semantic patterns, not just keywords, so rephrasing around the edges won't help.

Fix: shift from outcome language to process language. Not "Earn $5k" but "Learn the framework." Not "Clears acne" but "Formulated to support clear skin."

Prohibited or restricted content. Some categories are banned outright. Others (alcohol, supplements, financial services, gambling) require additional compliance steps or pre-authorization. Rewriting won't fix a prohibited-category rejection.

Trademark or IP. Brand names, celebrity likenesses, copyrighted assets you don't have rights to.

Landing page. Meta reviews the whole journey, not just the ad. A compliant ad pointing at a non-compliant page gets rejected. Check load speed, aggressive pop-ups, and whether the page delivers what the ad promised.

Account-level standing. If your ad account has accumulated recent disapprovals, clean new creative can still get auto-rejected. Account Quality shows your account's standing.

Fixing and resubmitting

Edit the ad to address the specific policy, then resubmit. Do not submit multiple near-identical versions in rapid succession — that can flag your account and slow down every pending review.

If you believe the rejection is wrong, request a review from Account Quality. Appeals now generally get one shot per ad. If the appeal fails, duplicate the ad with a meaningful change — new image, new hook, new landing page — and submit that as a new ad.

If ads keep getting rejected

Repeated rejections degrade your account standing, which makes future approvals harder. If you're seeing a pattern, stop launching and fix the pattern. The cheapest fix is reviewing AI-generated copy before you launch it, especially in health, wellness, beauty, supplements, and finance.

What Agency AI can and can't do

Agency AI generates copy from your Brand page and your chosen Copywriting Angle. It does not review your ads against Meta's policies before submission, and it cannot appeal a rejection for you. Approvals, rejections, and appeals all happen inside your own Meta ad account.
