Connecting Your Meta Business Account to Agency AI

Overview

Connecting your Meta Business account to Agency AI allows the platform to manage and optimize your Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns on your behalf. This guide walks you through the authorization process.

Prerequisites

Before connecting, make sure you have completed the following:

  • Admin access on the Business Portfolio.
  • An ad account and a Facebook Page in that portfolio (required).
  • A Pixel (dataset) for purchase optimization and ROAS.
  • A catalog only if you'll run Dynamic ads.
  • Instagram is optional.

How to Connect

Step 1: Open Agency AI

From your Shopify admin, navigate to Apps > Agency AI and open the app dashboard.

Step 2: Click "Connect to Meta"

On the app Home page (during onboarding) or under Settings → Meta account, click the "Connect to Meta" button.

Step 3: Authorize via Meta's Pop-Up

A Meta authorization pop-up window will appear. Log in with the Facebook account that has admin access to your Business account. If you're already logged in, Meta will skip this step.

Note: If the pop-up doesn't appear, check that your browser isn't blocking pop-ups. You may need to allow pop-ups for your Shopify admin URL.

Step 4: Grant Permissions

Meta will display a list of permissions Agency AI is requesting. These include access to your Ad Account, Pages, and Pixel data. Review the permissions and click "Continue" to grant access.

Step 5: Select Your Business Assets

You'll be prompted to select which Meta Business assets to connect:

  • Business Account — Select the Business Account that owns your ad assets.
  • Facebook Page — Select the Page associated with your store.
  • Ad Account — Select the Ad Account you want Agency AI to manage.
  • Pixel — Select the Pixel installed on your Shopify store.

Make sure each asset is correctly selected before proceeding.

Step 6: Confirm and Complete

Click "Done" to finalize the connection. You'll be redirected back to the Agency AI dashboard, where your connected Meta assets should now appear.

Step 7: Confirm Your Selections

In Settings → Meta account, confirm the ad account, Page, Pixel and Instagram selections and click Save Pixel & Instagram Settings.

Verifying the Connection

After connecting, the Agency AI dashboard should display your linked Meta assets with a green status indicator. If any asset shows an error or warning, try disconnecting and reconnecting using the steps above.

Common Issues

"Failed to complete Meta authorization" — Agency AI could not find an ad account and Page it can use. See Fix: "Failed to complete Meta authorization".

Pop-Up Window Doesn't Appear — Make sure pop-ups are enabled in your browser for your Shopify admin URL. Also try disabling any ad-blocker extensions temporarily.

Wrong Business Account Displayed — If Meta is showing a personal account or the wrong Business account, make sure you're logged into the correct Facebook profile before starting the authorization. You can switch accounts within the pop-up.

"Unable to locate an ad account and page" — The Facebook profile you signed in with granted a Page but no ad account. See Fix: "Unable to locate an ad account and page" during Meta authorization.

Meta restricted my account — Meta's automated review can restrict a new Business Portfolio or ad account during setup. See Meta restricted your account during setup.
