Creating an Agency AI Google Campaign

Quick answer

Go to Create Ad, select Google Ads, then choose New Campaign (a new campaign plus its first asset group) or New Asset Group (adds an asset group to a campaign you already have). Fill in your assets, or generate them with AI, and click Create Ad.

Before you start

The Ad Platform section at the top of Create Ad must show a green Integration is setup check under Google Ads. If it doesn't, see Connecting Your Google Ads Account.

New Campaign vs New Asset Group

New Campaign creates a new Performance Max campaign along with its first asset group. Use this for a new product line, a new market, or a new promotion with its own budget.

New Asset Group adds an asset group to an existing campaign. Use this to test new creative or messaging inside a campaign that's already learning. Search for the campaign in the Campaign field, name the asset group, and go.

Setting up a new campaign

  • Campaign Name — how it appears in Google Ads
  • Asset Group Name — the first asset group inside it
  • Target countries — defaults to United States. Add more as needed.
  • Merchant Center account — links your product feed to the campaign. If no account appears here, your Merchant Center isn't linked to your Google Ads account.
  • Target language
  • Daily Budget (Local Currency) — defaults to $50/day. This is a ceiling, not a spend commitment.
  • End Date — optional

Ad content

Ad Summary. Describe the ad and what you're promoting. This is the prompt Agency AI uses to generate relevant copy, so be specific: which products, which offer, which audience.

Copywriting Angle. Choose how Agency AI approaches the copy. Neutral uses your brand voice with no particular angle. [CONFIRM: list the other available angles.]

Final URL. The landing page for the ad. Required by Google.

Business name. Max 25 characters, shown alongside your ad.

Custom Identifier. Optional. Appended to the end of generated Google Ads names — useful if you want to trace campaigns back to a naming convention.

Headlines, long headlines, and descriptions

Asset Limit Length
Headlines 15 max 30 characters each
Long headlines 5 max 90 characters each
Descriptions 5 max 90 characters each

Write at least 10 headlines. Performance Max needs variety to test against. Agency AI recommends this in the interface for a reason — thin asset sets underperform, consistently.

Click ✨ Generate with AI beside any group to have Agency AI write them from your Brand profile and your Ad Summary. Edit anything it produces.

Images and videos

Minimum: 2 images — one landscape (1.91:1) and one square (1:1). At least 10 images recommended.

Three ways to add them:

  • Upload — your own files (.jpg or .png)
  • AI ToolsEdit an existing image, or Generate a new one
  • Asset Library — reuse images you've already added

Creative Style (Beta) guides the AI's editing and generation. Five styles:

  • Studio product — clean, controlled product imagery on neutral backgrounds
  • Lifestyle Scene — warm, real-world settings that place products in context
  • UGC / authentic — casual creator-style visuals, natural lighting, phone-shot realism
  • Promo / offer — bold promotional graphics with clear offer messaging
  • Flat lay / editorial — top-down styled compositions with curated props

Videos are optional. Google Ads only supports YouTube videos, so add them by URL in the Videos tab.

Optional, up to 4. Add your top landing pages, excluding your home page. Each needs link text (25 characters) and a final URL, with two optional description lines (35 characters each).

Sitelinks are one of the cheapest ways to lift Performance Max click-through rate. Use them.

After you launch

Google needs time. Don't judge a new Performance Max campaign in the first week, and don't edit it mid-learning. Agency AI will surface target ROAS recommendations on the Dashboard once it has enough data. See Understanding Recommendations.
