Creating a Meta Ad in Agency AI

Quick answer

Create Ad → Meta Ads → choose audience (New Customers or Remarketing) → choose where the ad goes (existing ad set, new ad set, or new campaign) → optional end date → choose ad type (Dynamic, Image, Video) → fill in copy or generate it → add images or video → Create Ad. Four steps, about 2 to 3 minutes.

Meta Step 1: audience

New Customers reaches people who haven't bought from you. Remarketing targets visitors, cart abandoners and past buyers. Keep no more than 2 remarketing ads live at a time; more than that overlaps the same small audience. Agency AI shows this tip when you pick Remarketing.

Meta Step 2: where the ad goes

Option Use when You fill in
Create New Ad Adding creative to a running ad set. The most common choice. Campaign, Ad Set
Create New Ad Set Testing a new audience or placement inside an existing campaign Campaign, Ad Set Name
Create New Campaign Starting from scratch (your first ad) or a promotion with its own budget Campaign Name, Ad Set Name, Daily budget, in your ad account's currency (default 10)

Campaigns not showing? Click Refresh next to "Missing Campaigns?". To manage a campaign created outside Agency AI, add "Agency" to its name in Manage Ads and it becomes selectable here.

You'll see a warning against creating new campaigns. Meta's algorithm performs best with data concentrated in fewer campaigns, so after your first one, add ads and ad sets to it instead.

Meta Step 3: end date

Optional. Blank means the ad runs until you pause it. Set one for time-limited promotions or fixed test windows.

Meta Step 4: ad type and content

Dynamic (catalog) ad

Pulls product images, titles and prices from your Meta catalog and personalizes what each person sees. Best for retargeting and for the always-on ad in your new customer ad set. Requires a catalog synced through the Facebook & Instagram Shopify app.

  • Product Catalog and optional Product Sets (a collection or subset)
  • Ad Summary, Copywriting Angle, Caption (500 characters, 5-word minimum), Call to Action (Shop Now default)

Headline and description come from the catalog.

Image ad

One creative shown to everyone. Best for a hero product, a sale, or a specific landing page.

  • Ad Summary: what you're promoting. This is the primary message the AI writes from.
  • Copywriting Angle: Neutral is your brand voice with no angle. All angles.
  • Headline (40 characters), Description (30), Caption (500). Live counters on each.
  • Landing Page and, beside it, Preview Link: the short display URL shown on the ad, e.g. yourstore.com/summersale.
  • Call to Action and Add Custom Identifier To Title (appends a tag to the ad name Agency AI creates in Meta).
  • Images: up to 10. See below.

Video ad

Same fields as Image, with Videos instead of images: up to 2, .mp4 or .mov, 100 MB each. One Square (1:1) and one Story (9:16) covers every placement. Specs and tips: Video ads.

Ad copy testing

On Image and Video ads, click + Add under Caption, Headline or Description to add up to 3 extra options of each. Meta rotates the combinations and shifts delivery to what performs. If you generated the first option with AI, the new field auto-generates too. Remove any option with its ×. How to run a clean test: A/B testing ad copy and creative.

Images

Three tabs: Upload, AI Tools (Edit, Generate, Genie) and Asset Library. Up to 10 images; Meta assigns each to placements by aspect ratio, so aim for an even mix of Square (1:1) for feeds and Story (9:16) for Stories and Reels. Every image gets a one-click variant in the other size. Tick the images to include. Full guide: Images and the AI Design Studio.

Create the ad

Click Create Ad. Meta reviews it, usually within hours. Watch status on Manage Ads. The page keeps your inputs if you navigate away or creation fails.

In the AI Dashboard

Same flow, same fields, dark or light theme. One difference: uploaded images render as selection cards with no per-placement upload boxes, because Meta places by aspect ratio.
