Reconnecting Meta After Uninstalling and Reinstalling Agency AI

Overview

If you've uninstalled Agency AI from your Shopify store and are reinstalling it — whether to troubleshoot an issue, after a trial pause, or to start fresh — you may need to reconnect your Meta account. This guide walks you through the reinstallation process and explains how to ensure a clean, successful reconnection.

Before You Reinstall

Before reinstalling Agency AI, take a moment to address the reason you uninstalled in the first place. If you were experiencing a Meta connection error, make sure you've resolved the underlying issue before attempting to reconnect. Common fixes include:

  • Installing and configuring the Meta Shopify App (see: Setting Up the Meta Shopify App)
  • Verifying your domain in Meta Business Suite (see: Verifying Your Domain in Meta Business Suite)
  • Fixing domain or theme reference issues (see: Fix: Meta Connection Pulling Wrong Domain or Theme Info)

Reinstalling Agency AI without addressing the root cause will typically result in the same error reoccurring.

Step 1: Clean Up Previous Meta Permissions

When you uninstall Agency AI, the app is removed from Shopify, but Meta may still have a record of the previous authorization. To ensure a clean reconnection, revoke the old permissions:

  1. Go to Facebook Settings > Business Integrations.
  2. Look for Agency AI in the list of connected apps.
  3. If it appears, click "Remove" to revoke the previous authorization.

This ensures that when you reconnect, Meta takes you through the full authorization flow rather than reusing a stale or broken token.

Step 2: Reinstall Agency AI

  1. Go to the Shopify App Store and search for "Agency AI."
  2. Click "Add App" and authorize the installation in your Shopify admin.
  3. Once installed, open the Agency AI app from your Shopify admin.

Step 3: Reconnect to Meta

  1. On the Agency AI dashboard, click "Connect to Meta."
  2. The Meta authorization pop-up should appear. Log in with the Facebook account that has admin access to your Business Account.
  3. Select your Business Account, Ad Account, Facebook Page, and Pixel when prompted.
  4. Click "Done" to complete the authorization.

Step 4: Verify the Connection

After reconnecting, check the Agency AI dashboard to confirm:

  • All four Meta assets (Business Account, Ad Account, Page, Pixel) show a connected status.
  • Your store domain appears correctly.
  • If you had previous campaigns, they should resync after the reconnection. Allow a few minutes for data to populate.

What About My Previous Campaigns and Data?

If you had active campaigns running through Agency AI before uninstalling, the campaigns themselves live in your Meta Ad Account — not within the Agency AI app. After reconnecting, Agency AI should be able to detect and display your existing campaigns.

However, any Agency AI-specific settings, configurations, or optimizations from your previous installation may need to be reconfigured. If you're unsure whether your previous setup has been fully restored, contact our support team for assistance.

What About My Free Trial?

If you uninstalled during your free trial period, your trial timer may have continued running while the app was uninstalled. If you need your trial extended due to time lost troubleshooting, contact our support team and we'll be happy to accommodate you.

Common Issues After Reinstallation

Meta authorization shows the wrong assets. Make sure you're logged into the correct Facebook account before starting the authorization. If you manage multiple Business accounts, pay close attention to which one you select during the flow.

"Unable to Connect Store Link" error returns. This means the underlying issue wasn't fully resolved before reinstalling. Review the troubleshooting steps in Fix: "Unable to Connect Store Link" Error During Meta Authorization before attempting again.

Pop-up doesn't appear. See our guide: What to Do If Your Meta Authorization Pop-Up Doesn't Appear.
